About The Show
With this production, we wanted to emphasize the anguish and turmoil that Shakespeare filled the script with. A dystopian-punk adaptation of a 16th century tragedy may sound outlandish, but the two genres encapsulate both the despair and angst reflected in Macbeth’s themes of revenge the dangers of overleaping ambition, and whether or not we are in control of our own fate.
Up until this point, the whole of my career within the WHS Theatre Company has been spent on the stage. Working alongside Mrs. O’Brien to bring this show to life has been such a joy, and an incredible learning experience.
If nothing else, this experience emphasized that the magic of theatre doesn’t stop at the actors on stage. Nor does it stop at the tech crew in the booth or backstage running scene changes. There is a whole world of theatre that lies even further behind the scenes. Diving into this world headfirst has deepened my appreciation for this arm form, and I am so grateful for all I have been taught during this rehearsal process.
